For SS11 Rachel Freire got together with Neurotica and over much vodka/coffee devised a unique Toile Du Jouy print combining the delicately sinister illustrations of Victoria McGrane based upon Rachel’s concept imagery. One night, Rachel locked Victoria in her studio, and with aid of aforementioned vodka/coffee, and The Eminem Show on repeat…for 16 hours straight…this evil lovechild was born.

Now that movie cast is being announced for TMI film(s), an odd-sense of relief is rings through me. For so very many (6+) years, I’ve had visions of these characters scorching through my brain. Soon there will be Official Merchandise, Official tie Franchises and probably a kitsch-booth set up in your local Hot-Topic.

…Soon there will not be just mine only but so many worldly ways of seeing these awesome peoples, do awesome things, in imaginings my neuropathways would have never conceived. -‘Pleased’- doesn’t begin to cover it, …but maybe a calendar could commemorate it

RE:RE: ‘New Rune’ Design Contest

For the next 8 1/2 hours, I’ll still be accepting contest submissions. I’m not saying this to pressure anyone, I’m stating it as a fact since I’m headed out for the evening and won’t have the best access. I just didn’t want anyone fretting…

Some of you have already sent your submission(s), some of you have opted out while still some of you have yet to get back to me. Despite that, each of you have amazed and inspired me, for having an interest in something still a bit delicate and intimate to me, for sharing your thoughts and insights and for taking the time. Thanks!

…as far as entries, I’ll be editing/tweaking them in the up-coming days, then over the weekend I’ll sit down with a designer friend who I’m plotting shop details with and pick our winners. Once things look a bit more polished I’ll contact the winners so they can see the finished thing but until The New Runes as a whole [as well as god willing the shop] will go live Dec 1st we’ll be on a bit of lock-down. As of the first I will poke and urge you guys to post publicly your every insight. Cuz you guys were/are marvelous and that is something everyone should know, not just me… although I consider myself pretty lucky to get the exclusive

W I P - Infernal Devices

I thought a more thematic WIP would be fun this time, rather than posting a step-by-step like I did for the Mortal Instruments Series. Also, it’d be a whole lot less time consuming and hard-drive sparing. More to come as soon as I get the client’s OK.

Steampunk, I say!

Have been working stead-fastedly on character designs for InfernalDevices.Com, which are neither filled with ‘Steam’ nor ‘Punk’ but that hybrid combination which means hours and hours and hours and hours of homework on my part. NOT complaining. I love homework!

Here’s a peak at rough-drafts (and alternate link to Infernal Devices Dumping Grounds on DeviantArt).

Client says it technically New Series isn’t “Steampunk” because it isn’t set in an alternate-reality but then she doesn’t have to design Victorian Styled Shadow-Hunter Weaponry & Vestments. So there!

Arguably, how much cooler would it be go all-out kuchisake_onna’s Styled “Steampunk” goodness, wouldn’t it?
